TMS therapy

Improve mental wellness without medication.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, or TMS Therapy, is one of the most advanced non-pharmaceutical treatments available for issues like anxiety, OCD, and depression.

For some, traditional medicine-based treatments either don’t work or impair thinking and daily life. TMS Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that does not require the use of drugs, so patients undergoing this therapy don’t need to worry about prescription side effects or medication-related impairments.

How TMS Therapy works

Most patients report improvement in their mood and outlook on life within 2–3 weeks of the initial treatment.

Because TMS therapy doesn’t require medication or anesthesia, it can be done as an outpatient treatment. Because its duration is short, between 10 – 20 minutes, it can quickly become a part of your daily life.

Initially discovered in 1881 by Micheal Faraday, modern medicine has harnessed the electromagnetic coil’s power to create targeted magnetic pulses that strengthen your Limbic system, the system made of nerve tracts responsible for serotonin and dopamine production.

Through repeated stimulation to the limbic system, serotonin and dopamine tracts become stronger, unlike medication which inhibits or blocks dopamine and serotonin receptors. Much like physical therapy, TMS therapy can provide life-changing development.

Magnetic stimulation is safe and doesn’t use radiation or medication. The benefits of TMS Therapy can be life-changing. Here are some of the issues TMS Therapy can help with:

  • Depression and major depressive disorder (MDD)
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Anxiety
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Stroke rehabilitation
  • Schizophrenia
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Alzheimer’s’ disease
  • Chronic Pain
  • Post-partum depression
  • Nicotine addiction
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS)

TMS Therapy requires repetition, and each course of treatment can relieve symptoms for 3-6 months at a time.

If traditional medical therapies aren’t bringing relief, TMS Therapy may be the right choice for you.

The Process

1. Evaluation

All patients must complete a short questionnaire to assess their current emotional state and outlook. Once reviewed, we set up an appointment to discuss the treatment if it’s right for you.

2. Medical Eligibility

  1. While TMS Therapy is a safe, non-medicinal treatment; some patients may not qualify for treatment, including:
  • Pregnant or may become pregnant
  • Have metal or implanted devices like pacemakers, hearing implants, cranial bullet fragments, etc.
  • History of seizures, brain damage, stroke, or aneurysm

Our TMS expert will review your medical history with you to help determine the best course of treatment. Our priority is your safety and well-being.

3. Scheduling

Depending on patient need and availability, a typical TMS treatment course is scheduled for 2-3 weeks, 3-5 sessions a week, or 3-minute daily sessions.  Your therapist will outline a treatment course.
